Logo Design Brief for "Vid e Higuera"

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MINE!!!! READ ALL OF THIS. The contest will run for two weeks and in the first half hour I've had to REJECT DOZENS OF ENTRIES from people WHO CLEARLY HAVE NOT READ THIS.

Also... A fig is not an apple.

Also... I'm looking for something creative. If you give me something that looks like a tree logo that's been done a million times, I'll reject it.

Also... I have started inviting people to this contest because the entries over the first few hours have been, frankly, poor. Nothing creative enough to win a contest of this size. If you are one of the dozens of people I've invited, that is why I invited you.

PLEASE read this whole description and take some time in coming up with something.


Background:
"Vid e Higuera" translates to "Vine and Fig Tree" and represents a fruit tree farm nestled in the Costa Rican mountains. Inspired by a biblical reference, this phrase was also a favorite of George Washington and is famously cited in Lin Manuel Miranda's play, Hamilton in the song "One Last Time."

Design Elements:

Imagery:
Open to interpretations - could be the letters "VH", the farm's full name, just a vine and fig, or a combination. Let your creativity guide you! The full name is a lot so the MOST important thing will be the graphical element. We may have a logo that has no letters at all.

Tone:
The design should evoke earthy, friendly vibes. A design that is too corporate or high-tech will not work.

Colors:
Attached is an image showcasing art from the local indigenous people. This could serve as color inspiration but isn't a strict guideline. (Please ensure designs are respectful and sensitive to the cultural and indigenous traditions of the region.)

Usage:
The logo will feature on T-shirts, a sign, and a website. If suitable, it might also be embroidered onto different products. Hence, bold and clear patterns or colors that are embroidery-friendly would be a bonus. Colors that fade from one to another would be a negative. That said, if a logo that looks like a water-color painting is the most creative and wonderful, that will be the winner and we won't do embroidery.

Guidelines:

Submissions:
Please provide only the image/logo on a white background without any digital embellishments. NO 3D effects. NO backgrounds. NO mockups on walls/letterheads. (I will reject immediately any designs that do not follow this rule.)

Variations:
Avoid submitting multiple slight variations of the same design.

Quality:
While it shouldn't appear overtly corporate, the design must be professional and polished. It shouldn't come across as clownish or rough.

Objective:
The ideal logo will make viewers smile and evoke warm feelings. Please have fun with the design and let your creativity shine!

    I'm now having to reject ones that are clearly AI image generated. If you want to use an AI, that's OK with me as long as you first scan the image into some kind of program and make a change to it first. Otherwise you are just giving me something that you don't own, so is useless to me. If you have made a change in Illustrator or whatever, let me know in the comments for your entry what the change is that you made.

    Respectfully, I've noticed that there seems to be a disconnect between your initial brief and the top-rated designs. Additionally, most of the top-rated designs appear to overlook fundamental logo design principles, including readability, recognition, and scalability. Design #516 may be the exception, as these principles are crucial, especially for a logo that will be used on t-shirts, signage, and websites. Ensuring scalability and recognition is essential for these diverse applications.

    Please understand that my intention is not to be disrespectful, but rather to suggest that you reconsider your requirements to better align with your business needs.

    I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to your logo design. However, due to the contest's unclear scope, I have decided not to pursue it further.

      #amar is right, missing fundamental and basic principles ,if the design should evoke earthy and friend vibes, maybe you should reconsiderer the use of multi and vibrant colors

      Though I am not a professional, but when creating logo designs, there are some principles that need to be followed, no matters what. I respect the contest holder's freedom of choice but I also feel bad for him that he is going to pay for something that the designer doesn't even own, they pick different elements (vectors) and put them together and they basically participate with someone else's work. If this is the case , the contest holder should buy adobe subscription and buy different designs and put them together at his own, atleast in that way you have the licence. I can't understand how someone can immediately design a complex logo within minutes, designing a logo, choosing the right font, tweaking it, designing the icon and then placement requires hours and hours. Anyways, kind regards.

    Apparently you can't research and consider design work that is Original, Good Quality (Aesthetics and Layout), and not Ai generator.
    I make #861 and #805 Originally and not from the Ai generator.
    Each part can be separated and changed according to your will.

      Franco, I really appreciate you writing this and helping me to understand. When I first looked at it I didn't understand that it was hand drawn and high resolution, I just saw it as B&W and featured grapes prominently. I know it's confusing because "vid" means "vine" and so people think grapes, but in reality grapes don't grow here. There are lots of vines that grow on trees, etc., but no grapes.

      I have unrejected your image, and will present it along with some of the others. This contest has been difficult. I've had to reject so many and I thought that would prevent people from submitting crap, but it hasn't and in your case I rejected one that I shouldn't have.

      That said, I don't think a line drawing will end up as a winner. This is a very colorful part of the world and the logo should probably reflect that. The only exception to that may be if it is in the style of the etching in the one artifact on the lower right of the first image that I attached to the description.

    now you are confusing us... what do you mean about "Vine" !!
    is it "Costa Rican Butterfly Vine" or "Parasitic vine plant" or "Monkey ladder vine (Bauhinia glabra)" or "Green Vines, Costa Rica Plants, Macro Vines" or "Paradise Vine"...
    please could you define precisely what type of Vine species do need...
    and could you attach it to the description!!
    and since ""There are lots of vines that grow on trees, etc., but no grapes."" why are giving us a rating on all the designs with the Grapes elements on them when most of the top-rated entries till now contains imagery of Grapes in it somehow...

      I think if you read the original description it will be clear. I'll say it again to make it more clear: The reason for "vine and fig tree" is that it is a quote from the Bible that George Washington, the first U.S. President, talked about. He wanted to retire, to relax, and to feel safe, and that he would do all that "sitting under my own vine and fig tree." So the point is not grapes, the point is a farm where a person can sit and feel safe and secure.

      Unfortunately in every contest it's the same thing, there are always a lot of people who publish random logos made with mockups, all the same. And the worst thing is that there are people who accept these jobs without a minimum of investigation or evaluation. It's nice to see that for once someone is truly interested in the uniqueness of the work and enhances the skills of those who designed it. Thank you
