Opis Konkursu

So, what's your challenge? Produce a winning "look" on which I can base the rebuild of this car. Use a pencil or use software or? Please Make the changes I ask for & provide a 3/4 left rear view & a 3/4 left or right front view of your changes. Additional views are appreciated especially side, front, rear, & roof views.

I am 65 & live in PA w/ my wife & cats. I own one of 9 1963 Rambler American 220 2 door wagons known to exist. I chose this car because it is an odd duck. Over the last year I got it running, stopping & driving & bought all body parts needed. I named “her” Eunice Turdholler. It’s a long story.

1ST CHANGE: paint an undamaged car in its original colors from the 1963 Paint chart Image.. The Roof Only is Palisade Green Code P46 & the bottom of the car & the roof posts are Aegean Aqua Metallic code P47.
2ND CHANGE: slide the rear wheels back 2.5". For reference wheels are 15" in dia . If you Look at My ( the aqua car) in side view, The “forward bias” of the rear wheels limits the size of tires & this is why the tires move back
3RD CHANGE: Change tire diameter & width. REAR 10" wide 28" diameter ( 255 65 R 15). FRONT 8" wide 27" Diameter. For now, show w/ the stock steel wheels in red & small sized. "Dog Dish" hubcaps w/ the stylized Red "R" in them. If you wish you can provide additional renderings w/ other wheels you like .
4TH CHANGE: cut a scoop into the hood of my car as in attached picture '53 Nash Rambler".
5TH CHANGE: lower the car 2" by moving center of each tire upward 2". The rocker panels now sit 12" from the ground. Your work will drop it to 10"
6TH CHANGE:remove bumperettes from both bumpers.
7TH CHANGE: remove license plate indentation from front bumper so its a straight bumper all the way across. For ref: see pic "Eric's 62 Copper Rambler"
8TH CHANGE: Make the front valence under the bumper solid. then cut a slot in it from side to side 1" inboard of each turn signal to the other. this slot should be the same height as the signals.
8TH CHANGE: install the Vertical bar Grille in the Car.
9TH CHANGE: make a disc 2.25" in Dia & place in the grille on the 7th vertical bar from the end on the drivers side. Paint the Disc body color & align the bottom of the disc w/ the bottom of the headlight.
10TH CHANGE: Take a Red Stylized R from a Hubcap and place it into the disc in #9. Paint a Red pinstripe around the perimeter of the Disc in #9.
11TH CHANGE: install a Shark FIn Antenna on the very Rear of the Car Roof. This Antenna has a light in it to shine downward on the tailgate area.
12TH CHANGE: Find the picture w the stylized R gas cap. Paint a cap like this red and place it on your image
13TH CHANGE : remove the Clear Rear Backup lights: They will be replaced w/ an LED Bar hidden under bumper
14TH CHANGE: install dual exhaust on the car, 1 on each side: before the tire, after tire or in or under rear valence
15TH CHANGE: install a Mirror on each door There is a Rambler "R" mirror out there....
16TH CHANGE: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE???
OPTIONS: If you want u can give Additional or different colors, Pinstripes. See: https://www.facebook.com/HotRodJen/ Different wheel styles, LED lit wheel well,s or grille or under bumper areas.
HINTS: Cranberry Red & Forrest Green: good pinstripe colors.
You may request more pics. See 63 Rambler American Playlist on oldschoolcars Youtube channel. As submissions arrive they will be numbered & videoed & placed on YouTube & anyone wanting to contact the artist for renderings can go to my video description to find a link to you & your work.
After picking a winner I will discuss 5 or more commissioned renderings & the contest will be published on youtube. I am open to hand made or software produced images.
Please accept our gratitude. We look forward to sharing the contest on You Tube & on our many facebook Car groups so others in the Car Community who like your work can provide you with more! Happy Designing!

“Burhan worked his tail off to provide me with options and to be responsive in my quest to have an older car 3D modeled. His work produced images which inspire us to build what he drew.”

Its contest closing time. I want to convey my gratitude to everyone who participated. EVERYONE has my admiration as people who put their creativity out there for others to see. This contest process is new to me and it provided a lot of learning. As i worked & chatted w/ each of you I could feel each of you learning & that was rewarding to me. I hope each of you has learned something more about your software, your process, & yourselves. In the past week Kim & I have said goodbye to 3 foster children who returned to their biological family after 4.5 years staying: Kim &I were a bridge into their future. I hope that this contest has provided you learning that can be a bridge into your future. For most of you this is what you can carry w/ you from here.

It is 11 AM Saturday morning where I am located in Eastern Standard Time (NY). I intended to make and announce a decision this AM, however when I opened up this AM I saw a new Entry indicating some further work is going on. Chat reveals this work began prior to my notice early Friday that I was going to wrap it up today. To honor the work of all participants, I will leave the contest open until its scheduled close at 2 PM Eastern standard time on Sunday May 31 2020. My gratitude for the work of all continues. I have learned that using words to communicate what I desire to see visually, is a challenge. In learning that, I have likewise been able to imagine how hard it is for each of you to turn words into something visual, and to open yourselves to critique of your work. When I build a custom car each piece indicates the integrity with which I approach the work of asking a car to tell its story. Thank you for your work!

The time is drawing near. On Saturday I will award the prize. Everyone has taken direction well and likewise has been responsive to my requests for change. I THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING THIS ENJOYABLE! Half of any relationship is likability: who can I get along with best as I try to attain my objectives? is one of the questions I will ask as I evaluate entries. I will make a final request of each of you tonight. If my request can not be met, I will understand: its late in the going and you have other work. THANK YOU AGAIN to each of you. Its my pleasure to see this through to the end.

Thank you very much for the updates. It will be indeed exciting to see how all this ends up.
The last few days I've been quite busy with other projects, but in these last two days I'm still going to submit another entry with some more updates based on your feedback. In any case, it has been really interesting to work on this project!

This morning I changed some of the language in the description. I did this in response to some folks interpreting the instructions in a way I had not anticipated.

While i am looking for a lower car with a wider stance, I am also looking to better "fill" the wheel wells with more tire. Up front I can widen the track of the car by 1" on each side while increasing tire width to 9" In the Rear I can leave the track where it presently is and widen the tires 3" overall to 10". For tire height I am thinking 28" -29" diameter in the Rear and 1 to 2" less in the front. For tire/wheel combinations I believe I am looking for Black wall tires or lettered blackwall tires on Painted steel wheels with stock "R" hubcaps and a stainless trim ring. Present wheels are 15"
I can move to 16" or 17" if that is what you choose to draw. Wheel color possibilities are either of the two car colors, black, Red or Forrest Green. If you want to try to sell me on a different wheel I am open to the possibility. I will upload a picture of what I am thinking (or close)

For dimensioning references: 1. WHEELBASE is distance from center of front tire to center of rear tire and is 100" 2. FRONT TRACK is the distance from the center of the front tire to the center of the other front tire and in this car that distance is 54.6". 3. REAR TRACK is the distance from the center of one rear tire to the center of the other rear tire and in this car is 55" one of the "KEY" looks I am going for here is lengthen the wheelbase as stated in the objectives.
this will then allow me to widen both tracks to the extent that I can. When combined with increasing the tire size and lowering the car, the hoped for effect is to create a lower car with a wider stance.

Hello All: I wanted to check in for a minute and say Hi!! One of the reasons I chose the contest end date that I did was to allow a period of time for me to be a bit less focused on this because our family has something big going on. The Foster kids who came to us 4.5 years ago are going to be reunited with their biological family this weekend and I knew I would not be able to focus on you guys very much until the event is over. So, bear with me, I will be back and just as active as I was in the beginning, right after we see the kids off! Thanks for your patience!

Hi there! So I have withdrawn my first entry and submitted two new ones - #11 and #12 - one with how I think the car looked originally (more or less) and one with all the changes that you wanted to do on it. On both cases there are still place for improvement (need to add windshield wipers and the black rubber seals around windows, doors, and some other things) but for now I'll be looking forward to hearing you feedback. As always - have a nice day!

This must be one of the best, or even the best contest description I've read here at Freelancer as quite many here often doesn't do too good of a job to actually explain what they want. Just wanted to let you know that I've been working on your contest since yesterday (12.05.) and instead of some drawing, draw-over or something like that, I'm making a full 3D model that I could present to you even in such way that you can rotate it yourself to look around it from whichever angle you want. I think I'll be able to submit first version of what I'm making in 24 hours or so. Have a nice day!

HI Edgars! Thanks for your comments. Overnight I rejected one entry and so she withdrew her second entry. It seemed langage differences might have been in our way but I also wanted to be fair and re-examine my description. As a result, i just went into the project description to see if I could improve it. I broke it down into asking for 2 views that show 16 basic changes to the car and then asking the artist to add any other changes they would want. I was able to get the focus needed through the process of Morgan's asking a lot of very good questions and so we have her to thank for any additional clarity there is in my description. In fairness, you began your work before I made the change to the description so I will accept any entry that does not meet the new criteria from you, Morgan, Samsundin, and Rabiul. I ask everyone to bear with me as I am new to this and I do not want to be unfair to anyone.

Hey All, please Keep up the good work! In just one day Morgan has worked hard to hear what I want and to help me refine my own thinking about color, ride height, and details on the front end of the car. She has been following my requests in chat and has been presenting me with altered drawings based on my requests. I am feeling like we are getting close on one of the two 3/4 views I requested in my job description (the front end 3/4 view). At present it is my intention to keep the contest open for as long as I suggested at the beginning of our work

Thank you SAMSUDIN S for your entry. I like that you have taken a sideview image and have colored it in and applied some shadows under the ridge lines. This helps me to see the side fully. Since you are working from a side view, I am wondering if you can move the rear wheel backwards a couple of inches so I can see what that looks like. Also The wheels you have chosen are wheels the car came with originally. Soon after I got the car a friend desired the wheels and I did not so I traded him his wheels for mine.

I intend to let the contest go its full length unless someone just bowls me over with exactly the right entry. I drove 2000 miles with an empty trailer to rescue this car from being crushed and another 2000 miles back home in a snow storm with the car on a trailer. I have come too far in my process with it to do anything in a hurry.

I received a first entry from Laila who tried to use white Wagon wheels or as she called them SUV wheels. I did include a picture of a wagon wheel when I submitted. As soon as I got the car home, I sold those wheels because I did not like them and a friend wanted them.
