I need help/guidance regarding enlarging a hole in a Wooden Floor Joist that a water drain pipe runs through. When hot water is running a creaking noise can be heard as the drain pipe thermally expands in the floor joist hole. The hole has a medium size, ranging from 4-7 inches wide. I need the expertise of experienced mechanical/electrical engineer/s to give basic advice on how a product could work. Said product will be an adaptation of already existing exploratory core sampling orientation tools. These tools attach to an inner tube which is then lowered into a barrel, drilling is commenced, when drilling is completed the tool logs the bottom of the hole, the inner tube is brought up, we then access the tools log via a phone which tells us where to mark the core sample. I am designing a male urinal with a colour sensor that is mounted to the back of the urinal. A hole is drilled into the urinal for the sensor to see through, and a flat perspex shield is placed over the sensor to protect from water. A filling cone is then mounted on top of the prespex shield, where the user fills up the self draining cup when urinating. The sensor will measure the peak colour of the urine in the cup.
