Urgent (immediate start) - manually install OpenVPN and its libraries. An aged server has had its package management (yum etc) turned off for many years and most software has been compiled on it, or installed manually via RPMs. Now we want OpenVPN, but it complains that OpenSSL is missing when compiling. Compiling OpenSSL works, but it might be installing to the wrong directory or OpenVPN might need options pointing to the right directory. You *must* be good with this including creating SSH configs that hop over several proxies/gateways. The machine has no outbound internet access except an HTTP proxy which allows port 80 and 443. You would reach it over several intermediate servers which will be arranged. You would provide your SSH public key for this.

To whom it may concern, I have multiple years of experience in compiling complete Linux OSes (LFS). Furthermore I had multiple projects with OpenVPN. Depending on how old your system is, when the last update was, it might be that you have some very old OpenSSL libraries which are incompatible with new versions of OpenVPN, meaning that you would need to install some older version of it, or compiling a new version of OpenSSL. The other way would be to setup the LD_LIBRARY_PATH var. At the end it will be a trial and error job. Regards, Daniel
