We are a Mexican urban bike brand called Mexcykel. The brand was launched early this year and has had good acceptance in the Mexican market. Mexcykel’s products difference themselves from other brand’s products because they can be personalized in our web page; also they have a very competitive price. Mexcykel is associated with young, active, creative people. Its directed to the urban culture, and to the sustainable transportation in the cities. Mexcykel’s name comes from a word play (Mexico – cykel) we wanted to show that it was a Mexican brand, also the inspiration came from a trip that we made to Copenhagen; cykel means bicycle in Danish. We are looking for a new logo (and maybe a new name) because we have plans for international expansion and we think the quality we have right now in our image its good but not good enough to go international. Challenges: Make a logo (maybe a name) that can reflect the essence of the brand, staying creative, that can be suitable for a worldwide audience. We don’t want to be associated with Mexico, we want to be a world wide brand of cool urban personalized bikes. In Mexico, and in some other countries bike riding for transportation can be associated with a low social- economical class, we want to change that perception. So the brand has to give that message even thou the bikes are sell in a very competitive price. You can decide whether you want to give the brand another name, but you’ll need to give us a good reason. You can also use MEXYKEL, (We are changing from MEXCYKEL to MEXYKEL, this for practical use). We hope you bring the best of you to this challenge, there are a lot of other things that we will want to work on (packaging design, web page layout, web page redaction, accessories, business card design, store display design, bike design etc.) so this could be the beginning of some other cool challenges in a Mexican urban bike brand that its going global!
