Hi there, I'm a mechanical engineer specialized on industrial robots with over 15 years experience of designing, modeling, prototyping and effective manufacturing of different products, ranging from consumer goods to alternative energy systems. As per your project, I have the following observations: 1 - if is OK that your robot to climb just on poles it's fine - but for myself I can't make ones to climb on walls 2 - a working prototype of such robots can't be built on this budget, and I mean a real-functional robot, not a toy In order to have a better idea about this collaboration you could send me a msg on the board, and we'll see what is to be done.

I have worked on the design of a wall climbing robot before as an undergrad mechanical engineering student. I am currently on a break from my grad studies and can work full time on your project. Though I'll need some more details as to what exactly do you require from me: just a cad model, complete mathematical analysis and/or a project report as well? If you require the robot to be built physically as part of this project then I'm afraid I can't be of much help to you. Im mechatronic enginneer, Im working as assistant in Lab of my prof in technology university. I have done 3 robot and 2 of them is mobile robot. I have already a team to make all step, mechanic design, electronic circuit design, computer science for analyze and controller design, and I can make a timeline of project management using gantt chart for manage the project. - The analyzing software - Matlab - Mechanic design - Solidwork and Autocad - Controller - any kind. Hi, Sounds like a fun project. Building a robot chassisthat can climb a pole is easy enough. BUT other that the minimum payload you dont mention any of the the other constraints that would apply. Constarints such as size, power, nature of the pole, degree of autonomy required. etc etc. If you have these available it will make any bid far more effective. First we'd need to establish a few more specifics for the requirements. Things like wall surface, pole diameter. Any material/weight restrictions of the climber. We'd also need to clarify any control mechanisms that are needed. Does the climber need to be controlled remotely or does it need to be fully autonomous....what it does besides climb. Does it stop when it reaches the top or just climb continuously? I've created several robotic systems of various types over the years...mostly for discover/research purposes and taught a few volunteer youth groups on the subject. I'd welcome the challenge.

To complete this project I propose wheels equidistant around the pole each with separate motors, either standard DC motors with gearboxes or small steppers or continuous rotation servos depending on how repeatable you want the robots movements to be, rubber tires on the wheels will give a lot of traction, this combined with the torque from the motors will be able to lift over 250g. Another proposal is to build to sets of grippers that can inch up the pole, one gripping while the other moves, I have access to a laser cutter which I would use for the robots frame, not only making something that's professional looking but sturdy and easy to replicate and build more robots that are identical depending on your requirements. I also have an idea using bolts and nuts to allow the robot to grip onto poles of different diameters within a specified range, I don't know if that's important for your design but if it is I think I could do that. This sounds like a fun project that I will enjoy prototyping and experimenting with.
