Hello, Yes you need a better isolation, maybe a isolation transformer or some optocouplers. I have to see the schematic first to find your problem. Hi, I'm an experienced programmer and electronics designer. Some time ago I've got problems with RS485 blowing and I've solved. If You choose me the repairing process would be multistage but in any case I could ot guarantee success. The problem maybe outside your design for example and without on place measurement the solving could be impossible. So first You would provide the current circuit and cabling design and all RS485 requirements. I would do rough analize and tell if I would try to solve.
