CS-Cart modification - AJAX category filter

I am looking for help coding a category filter on my website. I currently have a category filter, yet I need the filter to refresh the products without refreshing the page. The filter will allow a viewer to fine tune their product selection by filtering. When a viewer has filtered through the products, the viewer has the ability to refresh the filters without refreshing the page. The current filter can be found @ [url removed, login to view] The current shopping cart being used is CS-Cart. CS-Cart employs a smarty template engine, so experience with either CS-Cart or smarty syntax is a must.
