Calling a function in another process for Win98

In my application I am attemping to modify the style of a window with the WS_POPUP style set (I am trying to remove that style and set it to WS_CHILD). This style is common to the Microsoft Character Map application and will be a good window to test the function on. Calling SetWindowLong/GWL_WNDSTYLE under Win2k & XP systems works fine, once we try this on Win9x it doesn't work because the application is running in another process space and Win98 won't allow this to occur.
Essentially, we need to be able to inject a DLL into the external EXE's process space and then call a SetWindowLong function from that DLL.
