Determine the file format and write some C++ classes that will contain methods to extract the data from files created by an application that can be downloaded here: [login to view URL] then choose the 1040 product. If you need a customer no. to install, email me. The classes will include objects and methods for extracting specific data from these files. A sample of one of the files is attached. The project will include two steps: 1- Determine the file format for how and where the data is stored. 2- Write code that can be used to extract specific data from the files. There are about 200 specific data requests that will be needed from various data entry fields in the program. The data appears to be stored in groups based on the input screens used in the program. It may be compressed, but I don’t think so. It may also use some type of encoding, I can’t tell. Lots of other people have decoded these files, determined the format and extracted data, so I don’t think it’s terribly difficult.
## Deliverables
1. Well structured, C++ source code files that can be inserted into my Visual C++ 6.0 SP5 projects. You can use MFC, dynamically linked, but no third party libraries. The source files must be adequately commented so that another programmer can look at it and quickly understand what is going on. 2. Documentation for each class/object and how to use all the public methods. Documentation of all you learn about the file structure. 3. Simple test project with workspace and project files so that it can be compiled and run with Visual C++ 6.0 SP5. 4. The first phase (determine the file format) must be completed in 2 weeks so that I know you can complete the rest of this project on time. 5. Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
## Platform
Win 98, Win 2000, Win ME, Win XP (both home and business versions)
## Deadline information
The first phase of this project must be completed in the first 2 weeks (by 10/25/02) so I know that you can complete the whole project on time. The first phase consists of determining the file format.
