I am extremely proficient in Java and usually complete the project in less then 3 days. I have several questions: 1- Where is the stock history saved? SQL DB? So your strategy is to compare the historical data to the last 30 days data and see the trend in the historical data?

I have good experience with Java. Im masters in computer networks and information security. Worked on some good projects in software defined networking designed and developed real time applications.

I think this project might not require any coding - and it should be possible simply using SQL only. This bid is only to setup a configuration of phpMyAdmin for you - preferably on a linode - and setup scripts for you to run the computation. The scripts will mostly be sql commands only which you can run directly. I think this is the best way to start and will be the quickest/most effective way for you to get this going. In the unlikely case that you still need coding on top, we can handle that separately in the language of your choice. Feel free to hit me up with the schema and the queries you need so that I can tell you if it is going to be possible without any coding.

Here is my understanding of your action items: 1) historical price data is in flat file (.txt, csv, etc.) 2) import that data into a database (MySql, SqlLite) 3) create stored procedures or queries so that you can search the last 30 days of historical data 4) query should return the closing price in the last 24 hours with the stock symbol and the last 30 days of data It sound like you want a query to pull the last 30 days of historical data and then you want to iterate over that list and get the closing price of the stock. Is that accurate? Do you want this application to have a GUI interface or is the command prompt ok? How big is the historical stock data file and what format is it in? Do you have an account with a financial website that you use to pull the closing price of the stock or are you using something like yahoo finance?
