Automatic Updating on Order Statuses - Zen Cart Based Store

I have a zen cart based website. For every order we receive there are 6 order status updates that the customer must receive. As of now we go through each order and update the orders manually. We would like it if the orders updated automatically every couple of days instead, since this is the time frame of which each order must be udpated. We need some code that will automatically update each of the orders. Someone who can write this kind of code will be greatly appreciated.
