Utility to convert ASCII data to a custom Metastock data like format. Metastock data is a format for using stock prices in various stock programs. The Metastock file format consists of 3 different files: .dat files which contain each individual stock prices, .dop files which describe the contents of the .dat files and the master file which describes all the .dop files. The attach file gives a sample .dat file. The sample .dat file needs to be reverse engineered to determine how it is constructed. There are several shareware/cheap utilities that will convert ASCII to standard Metastock which leads me to believe that this process is not terribly complex, note however that the attached file is not standard Metastock format, it has been customized somehow to only run on a specific application. The point of this project is not to convert ASCII to Metastock files. It is to convert ASCII to a custom file format which is similar, but not the same as Metastock. As stated previously, you need to reverse engineer the attached file to figure out what that custom format is, then build the app to create files in the same format.
