The purpose of this project is to display in real time, the current area of daylight and the current area of darkness upon a 2D representation of the Earth. My specific details are that I would like the map to display two different images simultaniously. The first layer is that of the entire daylight background map. The second layer is placed on top of the first and is that of the nighttime map graphic with the mathmatically calculated terminator hiding the non-nighttime portion of the mask which would reveal the daylight background image behind it. I would prefer if the terminator was in some way antialiased to smooth out the transition between daylight and nighttime.
