I currently have a desktop application (windows) I had previously put it up as it had a few bugs but i have now decided to move over to the internet option rather than put up with all the problems that a desktop app can give.
Ok so I will provide a instal pack of current software so you can see how it works.
Essentially it is a database that is used to send letters via my service, I install the software using the clients own excel databases. Each time the client wants to send out letters they use my software to generate and export (via email) a spreadsheet to me.
Each time they want me to generate a letter they would send my the spreadsheet via my current software, this software also creates a history of client activity,, ie when letters letters where redeemed as well as this a client management module to check the activity add remove archive inactive clients etc
This is facilitated by a barcode that my software creates from each mailout this barcode is scanned into software creating client activity the barcode included customer ID amount $ to be redeemed and expiry date of this voucher.
The website will be used by my clients to manage there database scan barcode data into same database generate records and export data based on a preset criteria.
How i think it should work.
1. Client registration - so i know who they are and then can give login credentials or reject
2. Once approved they supply excel sheet for me to import into there database
3. They are supplied with a url to login and begin using service 2 option the first is to scan barcodes these scans can either be to update data with a redeem offer, edit customer details and/or archive client because they are not using the service or have left address.
4. Admin access; this is used to maintain data, update records remove records (barcode scan can be utilised for this also)
5. Admin Reports very import to know who is redeeming offers over a given time (date range) these reports will also assist in archiving the low or non users of service
6. Sending data from admin module to Me for processing (sample is attached) the admin can create a mailing list to email to a predefined address, this list will have the name and address details plus 3 other fields that are "system" generated 1 Barcode string, $ amount (normally $5 but can change) and expiry date mm/dd/yy
The barcode string will contain the clients unique id dollar amount and expiry date this barcode is scanned at my customers front desk by staff and will update there data base with client activity for reporting purposes.
Will add more as required. Important I am new to this type of development so treat me as if i know little.. I have a domain and an SQL already setup. Type: MySQL (5.1.49-community)
Just to clarify, This project will be web based I will be hosting all databases on my server and my client will access these through a web page using a password. In essence my software will be a "Cloud based" service no software required or installed on my clients PC's
IMPORTANT
I want to use the same functions of the software "Coupon Creator" on line instead of being a desktop windows app i want clients to access and manage vie the web
