I would like to have a chrome extension that reads a value from a form field (aspx) on one window and then displays a pdf file in another window. The application will be used for Sharepoint. Basically, when a user opens the default edit form dialog for a list item in a document library I would like the other window to display the contents of the pdf file. I believe this solution may be simpler than a custom SP webpart but I am open to suggestions from experts in this field.

Hello! You are right. Custom webpart is much expencive solution. Attached pdf possible display on iframe near from through javascript code. This code possible place to standard webpart. I can realize described solution on SharePoint 2010/2013 for IE, Chrome and FF. I need time to design user-friendly interface (1-3 days), because I've never done anything like this.
