I am a native Chinese and proficient in both English and Chinese. Ranking #1 in my senior class.
Below is one of my personal essays, which describes what kind of person I am.
Personal Talents:
At the interviews I have been to, almost all of the interviewers would ask what are your talents and why should we pick you instead of someone else. I think my best personal talent is just my personal character. They are the most precious and important things to me. As I stated in the other essay, I was under a really heavy Chinese education, barely had any extra-curricular activities, whether in school or after school. During these four years in America, I have been discovering my interests and exploring my talents along the way. I have found the personal talents that I am proudest of: quick learning and hard-working.
After coming to America, I get to do so many things that I have never even considered when I was back in China. Freshmen year, my mastering discovered that I could be a great jumper and suggested that I joining the Track & Field to pole vault. I did as she suggested and the outcomes didn't let her down. It was the first sport I participated in and the first sport season I of my life. I broke the school's record, received a varsity letter, and received the annual best jumper award, even though two months previously I was just a beginner.
Sophomore year, I joined my school's robotics team. Seeing the robots they built for previous years kindled my interests and curiosity.
