Basic Email Checker Windows Application

I currently run, and heavily use, a little application called 'ePrompter' ([login to view URL]). I find it extremely handy as a quick tool to briefly check, read and delete incoming email without having to have my mail application open. However, ePrompter is quite old now and hasn't been updated in some time. It does not have some features that I would like, and there are a number of time and effort saving optimizations which I would like to see added. So what I'm after is basically a re-design of an application similar to ePrompter. I don't really want to pay more than $50 for this application, and I don't expect to retain rights to the code, I just want to own a copy of some software like this. Whether this is a viable expectation or not remains to be seen, but I am open to suggestions. I think that there may be some kind of market for this application, although I admit that most people would just use their main email application (I just find it quicker to use something like ePrompter for briefly overviewing and possibly filtering of my email. Here are my Requirements: # Basic Functionality #: - View emails in mailbox (on server) - Basic management of emails (view, mark as read, delete) - Send replies (desirable but optional) # Email System Support #: - POP (unsecured and secured) - IMAP (unsecured and secured) - SMTP (unsecured and secured) (optional) - Configurable TCP ports - Option to read headers only # System Requirements #: - Small installation (ideally should be able to run as a portable app) - Small memory footprint - Almost non-existent cpu resource requirement - Ideally coded in a stand-alone language - no requirement for runtime environments (eg; Java, .net etc), but I am potentially negotiable on this point - Tight, efficient, stable execution # UI #: - Modern look, perhaps some level of UI colour customization - HTML email reading support - Configurable hotkeys to: - Open application window (Ctrl+Alt+E global Windows hotkey) - Select all mail (same key deselects) (A) - Navigate through mail window & highlight messages (default to focus on main message window) (Arrow Keys) - Select currently highlighted mail (same key unmarks) (Space) - Mark selected / highlighted mail as read, move to next message (same key unmarks) (R) - Mark selected / highlighted mail for deletion, move to next message (same key unmarks) (Delete) - View currently highlighted email (Enter) - Close message / window (Esc) - Mouse based UI control for: - Select all emails - Select currently highlighted mail (same button unmarks) - Mark selected / highlighted mail as read, move to next message (same action unmarks) - Mark selected / highlighted mail for deletion, move to next message (same action unmarks) - View currently highlighted email (double click) - Other: - UI minimizes to taskbar - Single click on taskbar icon reveals email window, another click hides - Option to view emails in separate window or same window - Configurable sound alert on new email - Highly visible flashing number in system tray indicating number of unread email messages waiting That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there'll be more details as the project progresses.
