Hi,
I am Steve and I'm an engineer based in Reading UK. I have some experience in developing DMX controllers.
I am expereinced in a number of programming languages, however I have not developed in vb.net. I have used c# and VB6 a lot, and I am willing to pick up VB.net for the purpose of this project.
Is there an existing DMX controller that you have which connects to the PC you are going to use, or does the DMX controller need to be built as well as the control software?
I would be able to produce a program that detects when a new TXT file has been produced, reads the DMX data from it and passes this data to a DMX controller which controlls the light bar. I am also able to produce the DMX controller than plugs into the PC and the lights. This would appear to the PC as a virtual COM port.
The DMX device will require channel information to control it as well as the intensity of each colour. Will the channel information be contained within the TXT file that you are producing, or would you like this to be set in the softare that you would like to be produced? if the latter, then it is important to consider how you would like to be able to reconfigure this in the future in case of changes.
I would be happy to discuss this project with you further.
Regards,
-Steve
