Create Apache Kafka 0.8 RPM for CentOS 6.3

Create a RPM package that will correctly install Kafka 0.8 and ZooKeeper on CentOS. Source code for both Kafka 0.8 and ZooKeeper are included in the git package located at [url removed, login to view]

Project includes:

Compiling Kafka 0.8 and ZooKeeper.

Create RPM package that does the following:

Creates kafka/kafka user and group.

Installs Kafka and ZooKeeper in /usr/local/kafka-0.8.

Creates a symbolic link from /usr/local/kafka to /usr/local/kafka-0.8.

Creates /init.d/kafka and /init.d/zookeeper files that allows them to be started as a standard CentOS service ({start|stop|hardstop|status|restart}).

Package can assume that Java JDK is already installed.

Deliverables include RPM package and RPM spec file
