The Wonders of Green Tea - Fact or Fiction?
Green tea is becoming an increasingly popular beverage in the West where black tea was once the hot beverage of choice. This beverage was originally consumed by the habitants of Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and the Middle East. Now the beverage is being accredited as having serious health benefits. Benefits include lowering the risk of developing various types of Cancer; Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s disease; and treatment of multiple sclerosis.
Scientist and Health Officials are extremely skeptical about the many touted benefits of green tea. According to the United States Food and drug Administration "There is no credible evidence to support qualified health claims for green tea or green tea extract and a reduction of a number of risk factors associated with Cardio Vascular Disease".
A Scientific study published in the September 13 issue of the Journal of the American Medical association stated that "Green tea consumption is associated with reduced mortality due to all causes and due to cardiovascular disease”.
The aforementioned study is just one of many studies published proving that the consumption of Green Tea has serious health benefits and its claim to fame is not purely fictional.
Green Tea also has its side effects and people who suffer from certain illnesses have to first consult their doctors before indulging. A list of some of these illnesses are:
.heart problems or high blood pressure,
• kidney disease,
• an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism),

As with any drug, food or drink, everything that is done must be done with care, consideration and moderation because everything has its good and bad effects.
