. Ideas/Site Map/Timeline/Budget:
I want my site to be relatively simple. 4 or 5 tabs (Portfolio, Contact, Artist Bio, Print Sales....) and I want it to look relatively clean. I am in the process of making some good traction with some galleries, and want to start pitching my portfolio here in the city, so the sooner I can get this site done, the better. Maybe in the next month?
The bids I have solicited so far are in the $250-$500 range and this is ideally what I am looking to spend.
1. Style of work or paintings?
One question I have gotten by other web designers is whether I would like my website to focus on my style of work or my paintings. I would like the emphasis here to be on my paintings. I feel like I can address my style of work through words on my artist bio, but really do want the focus to be on the work. I am attaching a number of pieces from a number of my different collections over the years to give you a sense of my style. The most recent collection is of the flowers and weapons. This is the collection that I am going to start marketing to galleries. It basically explores feminine and masculine themes and our pre-conceptions of beauty. If you notice, all the flowers are done in very masculine colors (blues and greens), and the guns in very feminine colors (reds and pinks)...Anyway, perhaps a little too much information...
In terms of venues I've been featured in. My most recent showing to date, and probably my biggest was the NY International Art Festival in 2005. I also had my art in The Gladstone Hotel's Art Studio in Toronto, as well as a number of smaller Toronto galleries.
Some samples of my art are attached.
