Hello! I'm a seasoned firmware developer of applications with NRF devices, specifically nrf52832 and nrf52840 chips. Just in the last year, I've developed the firmware of 3 different products based on nrf52 microcontrollers. All of the latest developments have included BLE connectivity and firmware upgrade capability over the air (OTA). I can show the most recent projects being updated OTA with custom bootloaders, once we go over the project details. Getting into some details the new firmware file not necessarily must be in a .hex file, it can be a compressed file (.zip) with the encrypted firmware to avoid that corrupted firmware versions are downloaded to the hardware. The bootloader will verify the authenticity of the new firmware with a private encrypted key. The good news here is that I've already used these features in the applications recently developed.
