OVERVIEW
The Group’s activities include banking, mortgage lending and property development, as well as other investments. The role is for an accountant to take overall responsibility for the finance function, to run a group company and to become a member of the board. It offers attractive remuneration, together with the benefit of self-employed status and of working part time, from home, with some travel.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing:
management information;
financial accounting; and
negotiation;
In the following sectors:
banking;
mortgage lending;
property development; and
IT/software;
For several associated companies, worldwide;
Delegating to and managing a small team;
Opportunity to run a group company with a profit-linked bonus.
DETAILED DUTIES
The position encompasses the entire finance function:
Instituting and maintaining financial controls;
Controlling income and expenditure;
Compiling, analysing and presenting:
financial statements;
budgets/forecasts with risk analysis;
business plans; and
reports with commentaries;
Preparing financial information for audit and managing the audit process;
Providing tax planning services with reference to current legislation;
Maintaining, streamlining and simplifying the chart of accounts;
Managing the data integrity of the financial systems, initiating data cleanse exercises and improving data entry processes and controls;
Negotiating transactions with counterparties;
Meeting and interviewing clients and associated organisations;
Managing colleagues, workloads and deadlines; and
Deputising for the CEO as appropriate.
DESIRED PROFILE
Skills
Numerate, highly IT literate and articulate.
Capable of managing a full set of accounts up to audit;
Familiar with at least 2-3 accounting packages;
Entirely comfortable with Excel, including exporting and conversion;
Also familiar with:
Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; and
Cloud-based file management systems.
Experience
Demonstrable success in each of the areas listed under “detailed duties”.
Qualifications
Degree;
Relevant professional qualification, preferably in an Anglo-Saxon jurisdiction;
Appropriate experience.
