This project has been a dream of R. Joshua Cesaire, the founder, for quite sometimes; who was later joined by some other like-minded people. One summer morning in 1993, as a young man, while basking under the rising sun a thought came to mind about his contribution to the world. He was reminiscing on something that his high-school philosophy teacher had said: ‘’Your life is meaningless to mankind if you do nothing significant to impact the world.’’ Surely, he didn’t want his life to be meaningless. However, immature and powerless, that thought died out quickly to be revivified on that January 12, 2010 devastated earthquake in Haiti. He felt compelled to do something momentous in addition to providing some immediate help to the earthquake victims. A long term solution was needed, so he thought.

Now, he was much older with more experience and a very great education, decided to seriously delve into the idea and the possibility of placing a tertiary university in Haiti, not only to fill the void of a world-class university there but also to help revamp the educational system overall, which needed some serious make over. As said Malcolm X, "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today." Cesaire’s desire has always been that to equip the next generation in creating wealth, better social and economic infrastructures as to avoid the type of misfortune Haiti had experienced on January 2010 earthquake, among other hardships.

Haiti’s geographic position on the western part of the island has made it prone to a multitude of natural disasters. Periodically, it had been dealt a bad hand, which unfortunately has done nothing but deepening its quandaries. Since it would be nearly impossible to evacuate their side of the island; therefore, it is sine-qua-non that the people be better prepared to deal with the environment that they inherited. Like the saying goes, “You give a poor man a fish and you feed him for a day. You teach him to fish and you give him an occupation that will feed him for a lifetime.” (Chinese proverb). Mr. Cesaire believed that a better way to help Haiti would be through a world-class education adapted to its reality.
