Wheel of Fortune

The website should have a simple, bold, minimal and eye-catching interface. At the centre, and immediately drawing the focus of the user, should be a “wheel of fortune” type spinning wheel. This is (by default) divided into 6 sections/categories - the “Wheel Sections”. Next to (or inside) the wheel is a “Spin Now” button. On first loading the webpage, some text appears along the top of the screen. The text is “revealed” in synchronisation with the speed of human reading (e.g. over a few seconds.) It states: “So… you are bored. You don’t know what to do. But don’t worry. Not Bored Now is here to save you! Spin the wheel - let the gods of chance enrich your day.” This text may later have to be synchronised to a voiceover saying the words. The wheel in the centre of the page should be divided into (by default) 6 Wheel Sections, in a pie-like fashion. The number, title, text and colour of categories should be user configurable via a Content Management System (CMS). By default, the 6 sections of the wheel should each contain the text: 1) “Relax with a Great Book” (yellow?) 2) “Do a Good Deed” (white?) 3) “Be a Winner” (red?) 4) “Grab a Bargain” (orange?) 5) “Kick-back with a Classic Film” (black?) 6) “Discover New Music” (blue?) The sections may be differently coloured, or may all be the same colour. This decision should be made in consideration with the overall design aesthetic of the website. On spinning the wheel, the arrow spins fast, and begins to slow down. A clicking noise also sounds out, slowing down. The arrow continues spinning until it randomly lands on a Wheel Section. The action should be smooth and satisfying. Animations can be done in whatever manner the Website Designer feels is most suitable (e.g. javascript etc). However, the site should be compatible with iPads, iPhones, androids etc. Once the wheel stops spinning, further text should be revealed relating to the wheel selection. This should be done in an eye-catching way. For instance, the text could appear by “popping up” over the top of the spinning wheel (with the spinning wheel still visible - but blurred - underneath). Or the text could appear under the wheel. Such decisions should be made in conjunction with the overall design aesthetic of the webpage. The “Popup Text” will typically be around 100-300 words and will contain links. This text will be managed and configurable via the CMS. It should be able to contain mark-up, to i.e. display headings, bold, links etc. There should be an “x” in the corner to minimize the popup box. After the text is minimized, the user can then “Spin Again”. For each Wheel Section, there will be more than one Popup Text. These will be stored in a CMS, and will be randomly selected each time from a number of available Popup Texts for each Wheel Section. Should have an easy-to-use backend Content Management System. This will allow editing of text for Wheel Sections, and editing of text for Popup Texts (including addition of new categories for both Wheel Sections and Popup Texts). A desirable feature would also include some geo-targeting. This would be by country, such that a UK-based user may see different content (i.e. Different Popup Texts) to a user from the US. This would also be managed via the CMS. The design should be flexible and expandable, such that new features can be added in the future.
