Need design and development of a website for my artist husband to showcase his work online. Needs to be self-maintainable without strong knowledge of HTML. Open to hosted platforms like Wix or Wordpress. Have domain name. Site should be responsive for mobile. Basically three page types: Gallery, Rich-Text, Blog.
I like the layout of the site in the screenshot below. Simple with grey background / white foreground.
Masthead - If you’re up for the task, design and place a horizontal logo that reads: Eric Weinstein.
Top Nav - Paintings, Drawings, Events, About, Contact
Paintings Sub Nav - Canvas, Cardboard, Other (should be editable and extendable)
Drawings - No Sub Nav
Events - No Sub Nav
About Sub Nav - Bio, Artists Statement, Studio Info, Blog
Contact - No Sub Nav
Default to Paintings > Canvas view.
Need option to adjust this to be a stand-alone home page / splash page in the future.
Gallery Pages (Paintings; Drawings - and sub-pages)
Gallery pages should have default view = thumbnail gallery (target 16 images; will include vertical and horizontal).
Target 16 images per page, then pagination
Galleries will include vertical and horizontal images, but the grid should be parallel
Placeholder images are fine for now; will start mining actual images to sub later
Whatever plugin/tool is used should support the automatic creation of thumbnails based on original image upload.
Gallery admin should support ordering/sorting of images, as well as titles and descriptions.
Slideshow launches upon click of thumbnail.
Slideshow view should support:
Image title and description
Next/Previous buttons (full cycle is OK; no need to disable NEXT when at end; just cycle back to beginning of slideshow)
Slideshow and thumbnails should restrict download of images.
No auto-play required.
Transition - Appear (no sliding or fading or anything like that)
Provide small form with Subject / Email / Body, where content is sent via email to XXXX (this needs to be configurable to a new address in the future).
Include placeholders for social icon/links: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest (not sure we’ll use all these but would be nice to get them laid out.
The rest will be general explanation / text.
Other Content Pages
All pages should support text and images using rich-text editor and should conform to pre-defined styles that go well with the overall design.
