We are looking for someone strong in networking, routers, switches and firewalls to be responsible for network monitoring and further developing and enhancing the use of SolarWinds which includes WAN/LAN and server monitoring, reporting, and alerting.
This person will need to have core competencies in the administration, support, and operation of the Orion SolarWinds platform including Network Performance Monitor, Network Configuration Manager, Server & Application Monitor, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and IP Address Manager.
Responsibilities for SolarWinds Administrator include, but are not limited to:
Provide expertise to leverage MIBs, OIDs, and WMI performance counters to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems
Review business requirements and improve monitoring of the Orion Platform
Provide expertise to help improve a reporting system that meets the needs of our client and create additional Orion reports
Determine monitoring scope and impact on the network
Perform cleanup of unused and obsolete elements
Configure additional Orion alerts
Configure and manage Syslog and SNMP traps
Enable devices for network management including configuration changes
Determine future capacity requirements
Provide expertise to define, monitor, and report on SLAs
Provide expertise to detect and verify network faults
Provide expertise to detect and verify performance issues and determine the scope of the performance issue
Qualifications:
Expertise in the administration, support, and operation of the Orion SolarWinds platform including Network Performance Monitor, Network Configuration Manager, Server & Application Monitor, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and IP Address Manager
Expertise in the use of network management protocols (e.g. SNMP, SNMP Traps, Syslog, ICMP, NetFlow,etc.)
Knowledge of and experience with LAN/WAN and Data Center environments, including servers
Knowledge of traffic analysis, performance and capacity tools experience.
Security technologies and services (firewalls, forensics, identity and access management, IDS/IPS etc.).
Expert configurations and troubleshooting experience/skills with network protocols such as: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DHCP, HSRP, VRRP, MPLS, IEEE 802.1q, 802.3 and 808.1x.
Experience with Network Quality of Service (QoS) including IP precedence, DSCP and COS.
Experience implementing WAN/MAN technologies including: T1, DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48, OC192, Metro-Ethernet, DWDM and datacenter to datacenter (DC-DC) connections.
Thorough knowledge of SNMP and/or NetFlow configuration and utilization in an Enterprise Network.
Experience configuring Cisco (7000, 2900, 3700, 2900, 800 series) routers, Cisco (Nexus 7K, 5K, 6900, 4500, 3700 and 2900XL) Switches (Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, ISDN PRI & BRI).
Understanding of Cisco Blade Chassis Ethernet and Fiber Channel switch fabric configurations.
Experience configuring VPN point to point & point to multipoint (DMVPN) using command line and SDM, ASDM software.
Excellent Knowledge of firewalls - Cisco ASA 5500 Series (required) – Palo Alto next generation firewalls (a plus).
Experience with Multicast, Route Maps, Access Control List (ACL), URL Filtering, Application filtering, Route Redistribution, Tunneling, Autonomous Systems, VRF, Packet Sniffer/Capture, Network Monitoring, Syslog, Packet Tools: TCP Dump
Experience with network loadbalacers i.e. Netscaler, F5 ACE
Keep informed on latest development in automated information systems and procedures and maintains knowledge of all applicable regulations
