I’m looking for a coder familiar with the WordPress plugin API ([login to view URL]) who can write a simple plugin for me. I would like to make a WordPress plugin that will display the weather forecast using our weather API ([login to view URL]). Sample code already exists for reading and displaying the weather forecast in JavaScript with icons and descriptions. (Here is an article, [login to view URL] and there is more code in GitHub). So, the main task is to integrate this code into a WordPress plugin based on the WordPress API and best practices.
The plugin that you write will then be made freely available and the code will be open source. (The planned destination is the pubic WordPress repository here: [login to view URL]) If you wish, your name can be listed as the author for credit/resume purposes.
Optionally, after the plugin is complete, you can write a technical article (800-1500 words) describing the writing of the plugin. This article will be for an additional fee if mutually agreed after the plugin is complete. There is no obligation to agree to write an article, but it can be an additional milestone payment if you are interested. Note that for this task posting, however, you are only agreeing for a fee to write the WordPress plugin.
The ideal candidate for this work would be someone who already has experience writing a WordPress plugin. The timeline is flexible especially for the right candidate.
