Dear Employer,
I specialize in SSIS - I know how to use it, I know how to extend it, and I teach it too.
The sample transformation you describe is done in the data flow, and can be implemented in several ways.
You can use: conditional Split and "Fork" your code with the expressions engine there
You (sometimes) can use the same expression engine with the the ProductVersion == @Version? ProductVersion : @Version syntax to transform data based on conditions
you can use scripting capabilities and write .net functions doing it
you can even write your own component if you have complex logic, that does necessary parsing, comparison and transforms in code - and this component will install into the dataflow folder.
I would like to hear the scope of the project to understand how best develop it to suit your needs and whether it could be done within your budget.
I am open for the dialogue. I am in the pacific time zone.
I will have availability to start on Wednesday. I prefer written communication, although I can meet with you on Zoom - video conferencing software. Upon establishing the plan I suggest to release code/money in stages.
Sincerely,
Virginia
