This is a bit of a test project, what I want to do is post the project to get ideas of what the cost would be, and from their if the cost is acceptable then the project would be undertaken, initially for 1 - 3 modified balances, and possibly for more in the future.
This is a small project and as such I would like to keep the bids as low as possible, under a few hundred if possible. What I want to achieve is listed below.
I have included some links for ebay balances, basically the idea of this project, is that I would get a freelancer to buy a few cheap kitchen style balances off ebay (from any country) that could be used in a normal kitchen and make modifications to the balances, and try and neatly package modifications in the casing of the balance if possible. The balances should become 'Wireless Enabled' so they can communicate balance weights as well as unique balance ID to a windows PC. The wireless communication could be Zigbee or anything that is cheap, two way and cost effective allowing more than one device on the network, and whilst if I get you to make more than one balance they should be complete with balance, and pc receiver, it should be able to function with one balance and one receiver, or people be able to have two balances and one receiver.
The idea is to make an inter-operable wireless network that can be used to receive weights and information (data) and later on send commands and data to appliances on the kitchen network. Devices should have an appliance ID, and appliance type and the data.
Should be USB connection from receiver / transmitter to the windows PC (XP / VISTA) and some programming API or something to be able to query (send and receive) data through Visual Studio (VB, C++, C# etc.)
Cost should be total cost per unit, and in the bid comment include breakdown of cost for each piece of the thing, and the cost for a few units, include details of how the modifications would be made, what it would do and your ideas on the project. Shipping would be to Dandenong, VIC, Australia, 3175
