Adding sessions to checkbox so checkbox group work properly

right guys i have a checkbox list created in php and everything works but when i have selected options and press submit everything shows that i have selected but if i refresh browser i get none selected

what i want is when the user refreshes the browser the selected options will still appear on the php file like illustration below:
