Create a Wordpess Plugin

Hi, I need a wordpress plugin to be developed. Note: I've closed my previous project as I found another simpler solution. Just in case I've invited you to check this one now. Here's what I need: I need a plugin that will read the user's URL that he has landed, get some parameters from this URL and store them in a cookie for future reference. Then, later, if the person visits any webpage where this plugin is active, before loading the page, it will check if the cookie exists and which info is stored. If available, it will then rewrite the URL with its parameters. (I need the parameters to show up on the URL itself because of a lead system that I use that will only be able to read and store the correct data if those parameters are EXPLICIT in the URL). Let me clarify just to make sure we're on the same page: A. I advertise on some networks. Links – for tracking purposes – contains two extra parameters: they are "ref" and "hsrc". So my link looks like this: [login to view URL] B. So people click on my ad and land on my blog with that specific link and parameters; C. Problem is that sometimes they click another link, INSIDE my blog, before converting. And because of that I lose a specific conversion that NEEDS those parameters. So what I want is a plugin that follow this steps: 1. Someone clicks my ad with parameters ref and hsrc; 2. Plugin checks and verifies that parameters in URL exists (if they don't just load the page); 3. He gets the value of those 2 parameters and stores in a custom cookie with a custom expiration date that I can change in some settings page; 4. Now every time this guy visits ANY page on my site which has this plugin installed it will (1) check if a cookie with value on those 2 parameters exists. If there is no cookie or no value in the parameters., then just load the page. If there is, then REWRITE the URL with those parameters. So back to our example: 1. Guy visits [login to view URL] 2. Plugin stores in a custom cookie parameter ref and hsrc (Facebook and Women for value respectively) 3. He leaves and comes back 5 days later to another page – let's say [login to view URL] 4. Plugin checks and see there is info store in the cookie. So it rewrites and the final URL is: [login to view URL] Again, I NEED the parameters to be EXPLICIT on the url. Otherwise my lead system won't recognize it. Makes sense? -------------------- Additionally, now I use parameters ref and hsrc. But the easiest thing to do is to create a settings page for the plugin where I can change: – How long should the cookie last in days; – Which parameters, separated by comma, should it check and store (in this case it would be "ref, hsrc") -------------------- WHAT IF... What if... he clicks first in one link which has ref and hsrc and then another one? Just keep the first one. That's what I'm interested. So the plugin should check if there is something written on it. If there is, leave it like that. This way I can track the TRUE source of an ad. What if... there's only one of those parameters and not both? Just ignore. If the two of them are not there, then I don't need to track. So both values (ref and hsrc) must be present. -------------------- I think that's it. Probably more questions will arise as we go. But then feel free to ask. Some things to keep in mind: 1. Cookies must work in all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and IE); 2. It must also work on Mobile (since it's a first-party cookie it should be no problem with any of them) That's it! -Bruno
