This assignment is worth 30 points. This writing assignment focuses on using the terminology and concpets in Chapter 1 and APA style and format (see the writing requirements and APA tools used for your previous quiz). You may use any peer-reviewed journal article in the online college or other library. Website articles are unacceptable. It needs to be an article in a journal. If you are unsure what that means, here is url to help you and I have provided a resource on how to find an article using the online library as well: [login to view URL] Be sure you have reviewed each of these items. If you do not have the section headings, you will lose points. Write more, rather than less. The total length of your paper should be at least two pages in addition to the references page and your title page or name and date on the first page. Each section should be at least one full paragraph and often much more. Section headings in your paper must include the bolded section headings shown here (5 points): Introduction For 5 points, the introduction should include a brief summary of the research you chose for this assignment. Cover such things as the theory being tested and the topic of the research. (Note that you will need to cite the article in APA format here as well as any additional articles or sources you use to help you understand the topic.) Methodology For 5 points, identify the type of methodology used (survey, experimental, etc.) and clarify the hypothesis with the independent and dependent variables identified. Be sure to use the format we have learned in our earlier lecture and discussion for the hypothesis single sentence. You must also include ethical considerations the researchers should have addressed. You should be citing the textbook in this section primarily for terminology. Results For 5 points, simplify the final results (not each individual case or participant's score) in a way that directly displays the independent and dependent variables. This needs to be a chart or table. (Do not just write the scores. Appendix A may help you here.) Make no conclusions at this point--just the facts. You do NOT have to understand all the statistics in the article--just some basics from the textbook. Conclusions For 5 points, make a clear statement of whether or not the hypothesis was supported. (Do not use "proved" or anything that is implying one study alone can prove anything.) The bulk of this section must include possible "holes" in the study by identifying confounding variables and explaining how some of those variables would affect the results. This is a good place to review Appendix A. References For 5 points, utilize the APA tools in our course to list each reference in APA format that you cited in your previous sections. You should have two or three at a minimum--the article itself, our textbook, and you may have additional resources as well. (Note that our syllabus shows you exactly how to reference our textbook.)
