Data is my passion. Everywhere I look, I see data. I do immediately think about how to convert that data into impact. My name is Shoaib Amini and I did my masters in Bioinformatics at the VU University Amsterdam.
I am a Data Scientist with more than 5 years of experience. My main objective is to solve business problems using machine learning to create predictions and prescriptions and to optimize processes. I have deep understanding and hands-on experience in unsupervised learning techniques such as singular value decomposition, principal component analysis, laplacian eigenmaps, hierarchical clustering, k-means clustering, Gaussian mixture models clustering, non-negative matrix factorization, Gaussian mixture hidden Markov model, Markov chain clustering and sequence mining using SAS, Python or R. In addition, I have deep understanding and hands-on experience in supervised learning techniques such as regularized probabilistic linear models, bayesian regression, decision trees, conditional inference trees, random forests, gradient boosted trees, Adaptive Boosting, support vector machines and in statistical techniques such as permutation, bootstrapping, cross-validation, expectation-maximization and Markov chain Monte carlo.
