We are looking for a price quote for a web application we are looking to have built. If the price is something we can afford, we would like to hire someone do it. If the price is way above my budget, we will just try to do it on our own.
The project is:
To build a scalable and maintainable web application that allows users schedule event for a future date, upload some contents (video, audio, image and text), provide a recipient and delivery type (email or SMS). When the future date comes, the web application should deliver links to the contents to the recipient via email or SMS message.
We foresee the biggest part of the project is to manage concurrent content uploads by multiple users at the same time and also the content managing part. Various types of videos, audios, images and documents can be uploaded. For videos, audios and images - the website needs to be able to convert them to a normalized format to be able to display/play them. Similar to what Facebook does to their uploaded videos and images.
This is mainly a back-end only project and the front-end can be very simple controls, without any style whatsoever. We have a UI designer for the front-end job. So the focus of this project is the back-end coding and simple controls to be able to test the functionality.
So in short: User Registration, Social Media Login, Schedule an Event, Upload various types of contents per event, delivery method, and a service that checks what to deliver every hour and delivers the scheduled contents to the recipients.
We prefer Java + Spring MVC + MySQL stack for the development work since we are familiar with with these technologies and will be maintaining the website. But will consider PHP.
