I need a script that will run in the start up and autoconfigure outlook clients so that this configuration need not be done manually by the admin on every desktop
This script needs to do this
1) Check if configuration already done ( Can check by presence of a "[login to view URL]" file inside his own profile area ) .. if yes exit
2) Get Username from the Windows domain Login username , if not found prompt the user for login name
3) Connect to a fixed http URL and download the details , The format is here [login to view URL]
Note This is only a sample URL ... actual URL would be different
4) If AutoConfigure is set to NO set [login to view URL] and exit
5) Prompt the user for the password , The Prompt message should be configurable. Do not log the password in plain text
6) Configure the users outlook email client for mail account (Incoming and Outgoing) , If any account is already added , Backup and remove the existing account. The format of the backup can be decided as best
7) Configure the users outlook client for addressbook, if enabled , this will be typically an AD addressbook
8) Set [login to view URL] and exit. So that next time this is not called
Please Note
1) The above script should work for Outlook versions 2003 above , Please specifiy if this would work on all windows OS
2) The script will be called in startup and should automatically start
3) Multiple users may be using the same desktop , so the lock file , status files , profile etc should be placed only in the users own area
4) The source code and the compilation steps should be made available. Ofcourse you are free to use the source anywhere
