Opis Konkursu

Social isolation and loneliness can increase the risk for cognitive decline in seniors.

The goal of this project is to address the issue, using an economical and easily reproducible setup as open source tools.

Evaluating, as Open Source recommends, a variety of issues including ethical concerns by contributors representing a wide range of viewpoints.

In general, conforming to commercially available tech, specification, standards and current regulatory guidance.

Mild cognitive impairment is a condition in which a person experiences a slight – but noticeable – decline in mental abilities (memory and thinking skills) compared with others of the same age.

The minor decline in abilities is noticeable by the person experiencing them or by others who interact with the person.

With mild cognitive impairment, the person frequently forgets conversations and information that one would ordinarily remember such as appointments and other planned events.

Changes can interfere with normal daily life, activities and complex decision-making. May struggle, but can complete complex tasks such as paying bills, taking medications, shopping, cooking, household cleaning.

Bridging Gaps:

Some possible uses of AR smart glasses / wearable devices for Improve the quality of live and independence in inicial forms of dementia and mild cognitive impairment:

Identifies and recall familiar faces

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation (excessive heat warning, drope of temperature allert, warns to lock the door, turn off the stove, misplaced things)

Routine tasks organization ( including waste and recycling information and reminders, organization tips to help maintain care of plants and animals, medication schedules)

Sense of direction, spatial orientation, travel awareness, weather forecast

Recall important events such as appointments, social engagements, birthday dates, and other planned events.

Google Glass, Enterprise Edition will be able to use Google Meet to let remote supervisors see through the eyes of their workers in the field and help them complete tasks with live chat.

It’s an idea Microsoft has been pursuing since the very first HoloLens demos, where it walked us through the process of fixing a light switch via a Skype video call. But Microsoft has since discontinued its Skype for HoloLens app. Instead, it charges between $20 and $65 per user per month for access to its newer Dynamics 365 Remote Assist program.

This technology could help an individual with a learning disability, or mild cognitive impairment, for example, build up the confidence necessary to make a routine journey unaccompanied, perhaps a trip to a grocery store or pharmacy.

Showing how to make a journey by bus, train or ferry.

Making the journey accompanied by a virtual trainer, who will find the most easily manageable options for the journey and explain each step as the journey progresses, including strategies for coping if the unexpected happens – for example the bus does not arrive or the route is changed.

This can be a way to help someone with a mild cognitive impairment or mental health problem to break their dependence on door-to-door transport or to attempt to travel.

Family members can keep an eye on older parents and loved ones, with their permission, in order to receive general information about their activities and to be alerted if the loved one has called out for help.

Sustainable open source with the lowest cost. The project is inspired by aspects of Linux that are social, not technical. From the beginning, with the aim of being casually modified by volunteers coordinating only through the Internet. Freely redistributable, anyone can create a distribution. Empathy is the connecting factor between developers. The source code to be used, modified and distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License.

    Sorry to keep you waiting

The objectives of the project are

To demonstrate the functionality and to verify that the concept can be achieved in development.

A valuable exercise that allows developers to visualize how the product will function,

it is a working interactive model of the product that gives an idea of the design, navigation and layout.

Take a big step forward practical use of AR to disability persons

    Hi people.
    Some doubts.
    I am a Product Designer.
So, what you require for these contests? concepts are enough?

I can notice you're waiting for a video format, can you give more details of "the file" or the proposal you are waiting? (sketching? renders? 3d on video? interaction? usability?)
Just to have an idea of the length of the video and the work needed.

If "a concept" is enough, and we are free to showcase it in the way we want, is good to know it.

Concepts are really free until you need to check the feasibility of the technology.

    Greetings!

    Newton's First Law of Motion:

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force.  Newton’s first law explains why it takes extra force to get moving

This same principle serves to explain the difficulty of starting a project

We are confident that you will be there to support us.
