Marketing/Affiliate expert with technical knowledge required

I have a site that makes some affiliate revenue, which currently involves logging in to each affiliate site individually (there are lots to check!). These sites generally offer the option of a 'postback url' feature.

I need someone to explain what postback urls to me, and then implement a solution that uses them.
