I want to develop a defect tracking database with ACCESS 2010.
This database would allow to record and follow the progress of every defect that is identified on a ship until the problem is resolved.
The development of this application consists of:
* Building forms to input the data and to have an overview of all defects entered: I think 2 forms are needed (one for the overview of all the defects and one to input the data (needs about 25 fields) according to one defect)
* Filtering information entered according to criteria specified (in the overview form).
* Planning to send by email all the information of one defect (pdf format)
* Extracting data to Excel with filtering on selected fields
* Graphically displaying the total of defects and also by status
* Creating different levels of permission and access controls including read-only based on user roles
* Creating a module to maintain all the list which are need to input some of the data (block, section, deck, Inspector email and tel, Responsible email and tel,…)
* Storing data on a remote online space ( cloud, office 365, sharepoint, ... to be defined later)
The final development must be user friendly and easy understanding.
I need that VBA code will be easily understandable (well commented) because I should keep it afterwards and I need to be able to add new information, without calling anyone to help me.
