Using ASDI on ASP page to lookup domain users

I am the technology coordinator for a small school district. Often we have teachers who will request that we add a student to the domain only to find out that the student already has an account. We have approximately 2500 accounts in our Windows 2K domain.

I want a page that we can put on our intranet to allow teachers to look-up existing users to verify that they do not currently exist. If, in fact, the user does not exist, I want the person to fill out a form with the applicable information to be emailed to us using CDONTS.

I know that using Active Directory Service Interfaces, or ADSI, it is quite easy to enumerate through all of the groups in a domain and all the users in those groups. However, I want the user to be able to narrow the possible list of results returned to a manageable number. I also need the results to be sortable. From the user's perspective, they will not realize that the user list is being pulled from multiple groups. I imagine it will be necessary to write the results to an array. But, of course, if I knew how to do it, I wouldn't need help.

I've created a simple mock-up and explanation (in red) of how the page(s) should operate and flow, which is attached to this submission. I'm open to suggestions if you have ideas to improve on my design.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

We're using Windows 2000 Server and an Active Directory domain.
