Javascript Spell Checker Some Debugging and Minor Fixes

Javascript expert needed to put some finishing touches on some nearly finished code: I have written a Javascript class that enables client side XMLHTTP communication with the web server for spell checking an HTML form. The code was written quickly and has not been extensively debugged. The code needs to be debugged and verified to work flawlessly on Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher, on Mozilla Firefox 1.0 through 1.5 (linux and Windows), and on Safari for Macintosh. The coder will enhance the provided code and create a _production quality_ piece of software. The Javascript class interacts with a php script that handles the server side. The spellchecker is modelled after the one available in [url removed, login to view] and must work exactly that same way. The user clicks on "check spelling" and the misspelled words are highlighted. When the user clicks on a misspelled word a list of suggestions is displayed. The user clicks on a suggestion and it is substituted in the document for the misspelled word. The code provided works fairly well on FireFox 1.0.6 on linux, but has some bugs and compatibility issues with other browsers. In the right hands, this code can be turned into production quality in a short time. Bonus will be given if the coder exceeds expectations and creates a truly amazing piece of code. We also have some other fairly simple javascript work that we will need done soon, and would like to find someone who we can depend on to do a great job.

## Deliverables

1) A complete and fully functional version of our existing Javascript Spell Checker class that works on IE5.0+, FF1.0+ and Safari.

2) The code must be simple, well-commented, and maintainable.

3) The coder must not add any additional implementation requirements other than: the javascript include file, the class instantiation containing the field to spell check, the id of the spell check button, the object name, and the form submit button.

4) The code, especially any regular expressions used, must be easily maintainable and clean.

All code created by the coder falls under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

The server side file requires aspell and is written in PHP. The client side file is javascript and must work across all mainstream browser platforms (described above). The javascript code needs to run on Linux, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and MacOS X. This should not be a problem if the required browsers are supported.
