RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The goal of this research proposal is to evaluate and improve the performance of MAC protocol in DSRC environments. The objectives of this research work are 1. Applying markov model based approach and kalman filtering technique to estimate road traffic densities by using the information provided by the vehicles. 2. To optimize the control channel interval (CCI) and to maximize successful transmission rates and accuracy for IEEE 802.11p MAC protocol at standard mobility rate of DSRC as high as 140km/hour. 3. Analyzing the performance of connected vehicles at varying vehicle speeds and varying number of connected vehicles and the performance evaluation of connected vehicles is investigated using NS-3 simulator.
