Setting up DNS hosting on Amazon EC2

I want someone to help to guide me through on how to set up a DNS hosting on my Amazon EC2 instance. Actually I have no idea how DNS configuration works.

All I know is that I need to install bind9 package. But after that, I have no idea how to proceed further.

The job scope of this project is to guide me through how to install and configure a simple DNS hosting on my Ubuntu 10.04 Server on Amazon. You do not need to login to my server and perform the installation. All I need is someone to guide me through the process so I know how to get it done next time.

Give advices on the standard and common practices of managing a DNS hosting service. What are the configurations needed to be done if I am going to host a new domain name?

For your information, my country registrar always charges me every time I want to amend the DNS records. That’s why I need to setup this DNS hosting with full control on my side.
