Build a gym membership tracking software that will allow clients to scan in using their barcode

We are a Gym, and are looking to create a software/hardware system for signing members in.
For example, if we sell a 6 pack of training, we can load up the individuals barcode/scan code , and the client will scan in before their session and a session is taken off their account.
Therefore the system can quickly and easily tell us when the client came in and how many sessions they have left. I would like them to be able to sign in (scan barcode) and the individuals account automatically pop up for the front desk.
Additionally, the system would need to sign in members (i.e. gym membership). Therefore we would create a account for Jim Smith which gives him 3 months of unlimited gym access (3 month membership) and he would scan in each day.
Lastly the system has to be able to run in the 'background' of the front desk, therefore our front desk does not have to open up the program, which will allow them to stay on task.
We do not need any additional features such as scheduling, POS, invoice, reports, just scan in.
