Ambition to achieve demanding goals. EXPERIENCE: • AYESOFT: (June 2008 – Present) Designation: Sr. Software Engineer. Nero BackItUp 5: Currently working on BackItUp 5. BackItUp 5 is a component of Nero CD/DVD burning application. It has the capability of taking backups of full system, selected drives or selected files’ at time scheduled by the user. This backup can be stored directly on any online storage space, DVD/CD or local disk. Backend of this system is in VC++ whereas front end is in WPF (C#). I am part of front end team. My contributions are as under: • Implementation of backend communication with front end through COM. • Analysis of use cases for front end development. • Implementation and testing of front end. • Komatsu Ltd.: (March 2006 – May 2008) Designation: Software Engineer. The projects that I have worked on are as under: DjVu Control: Worked on DjVu Control. This light weight OCX application is developed as a product and can easily be plugged-in into other applications. This OCX is a complete image viewer application to display DjVu images. It has all the functionalities of displaying and manipulating DjVu documents like navigation, zoom, rotate, copy, search text, highlight and export DjVu image to Bmp, Gif, Png and Jpeg formats. Its first prototype has been released for use in GSP. For its next release functionalities like printing, adding, deleting an image to DjVu document, enabling and disabling OCR of DjVu documents are under development. DjVu control is developed using VC++ and Celartem DjVu SDK. I completely supervised and developed this product. My contributions are as under: • Analysis & Design of DjVu Control. • Implementation. • Testing. Onsite Software development and support: Worked in Japan for 3 months as an onsite engineer in one of the client departments of Komatsu. My duties in Japan were as under: • Software development. • Software testing and deployment. • To establish a smooth coordination and communication channel between client and development team in Pakistan. eBrochure: This is a light wait web application that is based on ActiveX and web interface that support DjVu compressed documents. Due to small size of DjVu documents compared to bmp, jpeg or PDF Komatsu provides all its DTP material i.e. product manuals, product brochures and service manuals on web in DjVu format. eBrochure includes features like panning, zooming, OCR search, bookmark, text highlighting and dynamic content loading. The technologies used in this product are Visual C++, XML, XSL, ActiveX, Classic ASP, and DjVu Compression API. I am involved in its implementation and testing. Machine Distribution Xpress (MDX): This is an ERP system, used by parts distributors of heavy machinery around the world. This ERP covers full supply chain business workflow of heavy machinery manufacturers and distributors. It has both desktop and web versions. Technologies used are C#, XML, SQL. I was involved in implementation and testing of this product. • PlanetBeyond: (Jan 2005 – March 2006) Designation: Software Engineer. The projects that I developed were mainly VAS applications for all the mobile operators here in Pakistan. Desktop Messenger Application: This messenger application provides the facility to the users to chat with their mobile friends from their PCs. Users can maintain a buddy list and can add, delete or block any contact. Users could download this Desktop Messenger from the web site of mobile operator and install it on his/her machine. Tools and technologies used were VC++, Sockets, COM programming. MSN Messenger’s SMS Addin: Using SMS Add-in for MSN Messenger users could simply login to their MSN Messenger and just like chatting their PC friends they could also chat with their mobile friends. Users could maintain a buddy list of mobile friends just like their MSN buddy list. Tools and technologies used were VC++ Win32, Message Hooking, Sockets, COM programming. Outlook Cooperate SMS Addin: I also developed an add-in for outlook for sending and receiving SMS through GSM modem in a corporate organization. Tools and languages used were C# .Net 1.1. SMS Applet: This applet was developed for the website of a mobile operator to send and receive SMS from PC to handset. Tools and Languages used were J2EE and Jbuilder 2005. Alert Sender: Alert sender was a server side application for sending SMS Alerts to the subscribers of a well known mobile operator in Pakistan. Tools and Languages used were J2EE and Jbuilder 2005. I also contributed in the development of web admin applications in jsp, JDBC, JavaBeans and servlets. • Riphah International University: (Aug 2004 - Dec 2004) Designation: Teaching Fellow. This data was then used for automatic data standardization, house-holding & individualization for Pakistan’s addresses and names using VC++ & Teradata. Tasks carried out in this project were: o Development of a Dimensional Model (DM) of DWH. o Development of Database Schema. o Index Modeling. o Implementation of Schema in Teradata. o ETL and Cleansing, Data Loading in Teradata. o Design and Run analytical queries. • Clustering: A clustering application, which finds clusters in bipartite, graphs, helpful in many fields. • Stock Market web services: Developed web services that enable companies to advertise their shares and investors to maintain their portfolios of bought shares and predict the profitability of their portfolios and depending on the prediction can change the amount of securities in portfolio to avoid risks. Used C# and MS Access in this project. • Chat application: Developed a chat application using .Net remoting for systems on a LAN. C# was used in this project. • Dictionary: A dictionary application implemented using radix tree, which searches and adds words to dictionary in O (1) time and displays it. • Visual Knapsack: An application, which solves fractional and 0/1 knapsack problem. • Graph Coloring Application: An application, which generates and colors graphs using a greedy heuristic using minimum colors. • Socket/Network Programming: In this project HDLC layer was implemented and a basic communication application was developed in C++ under Linux, which performs error checking and file transfer. • Minimum Efficiency And Accuracy Test (MEAT): Software developed for FIA for checking the speed and accuracy of operators using VB and crystal reports. • Final Project (BS): Shortest Path Finder in VC++ developed by using algorithms of graph theory. This application visually shows the user drawn graphs and then shows minimum path in the graph by choosing the particular choice. • Angiogram Image enhancement: Developed software for enhancing blurred angiograms by applying various image enhancement techniques. • Paint Application: A basic paint application using MFC, Visual C++. • Dynamic Web Site: Online Car Shopping using Java Script, Active Server Pages (ASP), HTML, Microsoft FrontPage 2000, Microsoft Access. • Genetic Algorithm: A general Genetic Algorithm (Artificial Intelligence) for an equation using C. • 0/1 Knapsack Problem: Researched on Knapsack Problem, implemented it using Genetic Algorithms as a web based application using Java script and Html. • DBMS Project: A project in Software Engineering using UML and Rational Rose. Converted the manual system of a “Boombeat” (local Audio/Video shop) to automation. • Object Oriented Analysis and Design of a Traveling Agency system: The complete object oriented analysis and design of the “Traveling Agency system” using UML modeling language, Rational Rose and Visio.
