My name is Ioannis Panousis and I was brought up in Greece. I've so far spent 2 years studying Computer Science at the University of Bath in the south of England. There I sought a more specific field in computing that attracted me and I came across machine vision and image processing. This interest led me to apply to Plymouth Marine Laboratory in Plymouth,Devon for my placement year and that is where I'm currently positioned.
Fortunately the work here is greatly variable in programming languages, requirements and applications. Even better, it involves image and data processing every single day, and while constantly developing a better understanding of the work I've grown accustomed to using advanced tools for handling and manipulating image data, geographical data, satellite and much more.
In effect this has greatly matured my view and skill in applying of solutions and problem solving.
Equally to the pre-existing set of skills selected, I can also offer work involving;
Bash scripting
GoogleEarth + KML formats using simple or complex features
(Re-)Formatting or parsing of any type of data
Data processing function libraries - creation,extension,improvement
Digital camera, Hyperspectral sensor, LiDAR data processing
Numerical analysis of data for a range of purposes
... and more, all work is welcome!
