1993 One Year University ([login to view URL].Incomplete) University of Witwatersrand 1996 Microsoft Certified Software Developer 1997 SQL Server Administration SQL Server Database Design 1995-1998 Employed as Programmer at Lanmark CC, to upgrade and extend an existing Clipper-based CRM Package to Windows 16, later 32-bit, using primarily the Visual Studio development tools (Visual C++, Visual Basic). Also developed Service Tracking and Quote Tracking additions to the code base and various import, export and integration routines between various systems (AS/400s, middleware systems, email and workflow systems) 1998-2000: Re-employed by the new company (UCS - Universal Company Software) as Developer, to support and extend existing Lanmark codebases, and to develop new fully 32-bit Windows multi-tier, componentised version of previous primary product. Also took on shared responsibility for maintenance of Unix servers running mail, domain services (via samba), firewall/proxy service and certain legacy applications. Developed shell scripts and utilities for day to day integration of Windows workstations and Windows NT Server with Unix systems using sh and gcc primarily. Developed and extended the Primary Product to SQL Server/Oracle systems. Also wrote and integrated various Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Legacy systems into the Primary Product, and added Web Integration, using again the Visual Studio Product Line, mostly Visual C++ and Visual Interdev. Began development of new version of Primary Product, writing the majority of the database wrapper, GUI controls encapsulation and forms management before leaving. 2000-2002: Employed by MetaLogix (Pty) Ltd., as Developer and Integrator with their Primary Product, a US-developed CRM Package with a fair degree of customisability and extensibility (mostly through Basic-like script, but also through COM Automation). Wrote scripts and utilities to integrate between SalesLogix and mainframe systems, web front ends written primarily in Visual Interdev, and desktop/server email systems (Notes and Microsoft Outlook). Began, with another developer, on the development of a new CRM Product, intended to be their flagship product, written and prototyped in VBA in Outlook, to use the Exchange Data Store as the Database and an extended set of Outlook functionality as the front-end. While developing that product, the need arose for synchronisation services between that system and existing RDBMS systems (initially aimed at SalesLogix Database running on MSSQL/Oracle). Hence created a customisable Table/Folder and Field Mapping and Synchronisation Service using MAPI/CDO and ODBC/OLEDB for Exchange/SQL two-way synchronisation, using MS Exchange Event Service VBScript/MSSQL Triggers and Visual C/C++/Basic 2002-Present: Helped formed BSDHosting, a web-development, web-hosting, domain and server management company focusing on Unix-based solutions. Developed websites powered by Javascript (client-side) and PHP (server-side), interfacing to databases, LDAP, mail systems and other websites. Mantain BSDHosting Domain, Web, Mail and Database Servers on a daily basis. All BSDHosting Servers running Unix-like operating systems. Have been doing contract work for them, on and off. Employed by ExchangeWise (Pty) Ltd, as a Contract Developer of and around their primary product. MX-Contact, front-end CRM system built in Outlook. Developed and co-developed various utilities for Conflict Resolution, Back-end synchronisation services and Indexing. Installed and maintained their proxy-server/internet gateway running OpenBSD/pf. 2003-2004: Initially hired by Binary Fusion CC with another developer on a contract basis to work on software for Doctors’ Offices, managing Calendar, Consultations, Visits, Stock and Inventory. While still in the beginning stages on development, the project was shelved and contract shelved. Based on quality of work seen on the project, re-hired by Binary Fusion as a Developer. Binary Fusion projects were generally run on tight deadlines with narrow customer focus. Projects included Modelling Software, Client Databases, Diary Management, Voice Recording Software, Call Centre Management, Quote Management, Stock Control, Interactive Client-driven Websites and Multimedia Management. The primary languages used for development at Binary Fusion were Visual Basic 6 and VBScript in ASP. Visual C++, JavaScript and Perl were occasionally utilised.
