Basically I need a simple relational data base for tracking the issue of cable modems and digital boxes. It needs to have a simple Form data entry window. It needs to hold MAC Addresses, Job numbers, if they are in and out and to who and the ability to move people from current employees to former. It also needs to hold the dates for when things went in and out. I need to be able to search through the entire database by persons name, Mac address, or job number to find out where things are. The overall guiding principle for this project is that the program function in the background & require no interaction from the user. The computers connected communicate over the internet and include dial-up connections (located outside the US) to high-speed DSL & T1 lines. These obviously involve both static & dynamic addresses for clients. The FTP server has both a static address & a registered domain name. I have a phone line from point A to point B. The phone line is UNLOADED. It's 2 Copper wires from Point A to Point B. (Sometimes called a Drive-Pair or Inhouse-DSL) Remember, it's unloaded. PointA is a NT Server, Point B is a remote location (about 1 mile). Need Information Sheet, which will provide the following: 1. We are in need of a program capable of doing a DATA transfer between 2 SQL 7.0 or MSDE servers over both Phone line and DSL. It needs to be able to establish a dial-up connection to the internet and connect to a remote server. If possible, we would like it to be in both an application and a library (ocx or dll) that we can call from other programs. VB6 code is a must for compatibility issues with our other software. A simple VB app, I think. Here's what I want it to do: 1. Using basic authentification, login to a DSL router, pull up an html page and extract a dotted decimal IP address (from a table). 2. Embed this IP address into a simple redirect script (ASP). 3. FTP this script to an Internet web server (username and password required). The application should: Be easily scheduled, I.E. run once an hour, updating by FTP when the DSL IP address changes. Run on Win2k, hopefully on any 32 bit Windows platform.
