Lessons, practice and sample essays for online writing course.
Education company seeks writers to create instructional content for an online test prep course. We are looking for degree-qualified native English speakers with experience of teaching/writing about English grammar and composition. Our ideal candidate has superb writing skills, creative flair, and an enthusiasm for the language.
The course prepares adults for the MTEL Communications & Literacy Writing subtest (a standardized test for teacher certification). A course outline has already been created with learning objectives defined for each lesson. Test objectives can be found at [login to view URL]
Writers will be responsible for researching and citing their sources on all submitted work.
There are three parts to this project and the work will be divided up appropriately – please quote for the area in which you are most suited to/interested.
1. Grammar Section
Lessons and practice for 2 modules (9 lessons and approx. 138 practice questions), covering grammar fundamentals.
Each lesson should be approximately 500-700 words long. Writers will be expected to source and use appropriate examples (from copyright-free texts), suggest visuals if necessary, and document all sources used. Practice questions require detailed answer explanations.

2. Essay Composition Section
Lessons and practice for 2 modules (8 lessons and 49 practice questions). Lessons in this section cover basic essay-writing skills, step-by-step guidelines, and analyses of sample strong/weak essay responses. Writers will be expected to create original sample essays to guide their instruction (maximum of 4 essays, 400-600 words each).

3. Practice Tests
We require 3 full-length practice tests that simulate the difficulty level and format of the MTEL Comm & Lit Writing exam.
Each test consists of 35 Multiple Choice Questions (based on 11 short reading passages), 7 Sentence Correction questions, 1 Essay Question, and 1 Written Summary Question. Sere practice test at

Writers will be expected to source passages (from copyright-free texts) for the practice tests. Detailed answer explanations should be provided for each question – this includes sample strong responses for the essay and summary questions.

Essay Composition and Possibly the grammar section. I would like a bit more detail.
I am a great fit for this job because I have been doing this for the last 15 years as a high school English teacher. In teaching 12th grade honors and advanced placement students, my concentration is on teaching the writing process and editing/correcting/improving students' work. I have created the district's curriculum template, and have used it to create an Honors English 12 course and an Interdisciplinary course. As the department chairperson, my role in curriculum is very important as I work with the curriculum director to rewrite, review, and simply continue to work on this evolving set documents. I have also written online content and will be creating our first 12th grade online class. Of course, a major part of my job is creating assessments that meet state standards.

I would ensure a mix of process and product lessons based around essay writing on a number of topics where learners are either given the final essay (product) or are guided through the process and do not see a completed essay until they have written their own.
